Ivette Arroyo

Architect with more than 17 years of working experience as architect, lecturer and researcher. Worked both for the private sector and university in Ecuador. Ex-director of the Institute for Urban and Regional Planning (IPUR) at Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil, Ecuador. Currently doing doctoral studies at Housing Development & Management on users involvement in housing reconstruction processes in areas affected by typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Ivette is developing an evaluation tool for assessing how different degrees of users involvement contribute to build community resilience from the users perspective.

Guest lecturer and tutor in the post graduate course Urban Shelter Workshop and Urban Shelter Theory at HDM, Architecture, Lund University, Sweden (2008-nowadays).

Interested in housing research, disaster research, post-disaster evaluation, urban crisis, organized self-help housing and qualitative research.
